SUPPORTING EQUALITY, DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION

Our work on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion supports the ‘Go Together’ work stream as it positively impacts on employee engagement and helps us respond to our customer needs better.

Our Focus

We have continued our focus on developing key strategic partnerships and implementing ways to understand and respond to the needs of our employees.  Some key areas of progress this year are provided below: 
  • Achievement of the Silver Charter Mark from Diversity Mark NI following a rigorous assessment process reviewing our progress. This Charter Mark recognises Translink’s ongoing commitment to Diversity and Inclusion and the progress towards specific targets to in the areas of Gender, Race and Ethnicity and Disability.
  • Active membership of Stonewall’s Diversity Champions programme to demonstrate our commitment to progress on LGBT+ inclusion.   
  • Retention of our corporate membership with Women in Business and actively working in partnership with them to improve access to personal development and networking events for Translink employees.   
  • Growth of the LGBT+ Employee Network and the impact it is having by guiding the organisation to make meaningful improvements.  Key developments include increased awareness and understanding through shared learning on key celebration dates, development of a Transitioning at Work policy and fundraising for local LGBT+ Charities.     
  • Growth of Translink’s first company wide network to focus on female diversity and inclusion, the Women In Translink (WIT) Network.  This network has representation from every division in Translink and has identified key priorities such as developing visibility and influence and the provision of peer supporting and learning.   
  • Creation of a cultural employee network to enable colleagues to celebrate their heritage and increase understanding throughout the company of how we can embrace our different cultural backgrounds.
This work is part of an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion strategy and a programme of initiatives aimed at creating a diverse workplace and developing a positive and inclusive culture.
